Veritas Statement on violence and threats of violence

Today in Lancaster city, home of our Veritas Community, there was a suspicious package found in the Lancaster Public Library as well as multiple bomb threats sent to Lancaster city police.  The package and the multiple bomb threats were, no doubt, related to the planned Drag Queen Story Hour at the Lancaster Public Library.  As this has taken place in the community where many within the Veritas Community live, where we gather for worship, and where God has sent us to be a blessing, we feel that we need to make a brief statement about these happenings in Lancaster today.  No matter where you stand on the idea of a Drag Queen Story Hour, as followers of Jesus, there is no place for violence and hatred. Our Veritas Community strongly opposes and condemns violence and threats of violence.

The Power of Three Week Three

There is something special about the number three. There are three goals in a hat trick, three primary colors, Three Stooges, three flavors in Neapolitan ice cream, three pieces to a classic suit, and three choices in a game of rock, paper, scissors. The “Rule of Three,” a renowned writing principle, suggests that when things come in threes, they are inherently funnier, more satisfying, or more effective than other numbers of things. Think of a famous phrase or slogan and chances are it’s structured in three.

In week three of The Power of Three we explored our second part of our vision Build a Family while looking at the measure of Our people are friends outside of the Sunday morning worship gathering. Our text for the morning was 1 Samuel 20.
